One benefit of Aquatic Therapy is the buoyancy provided by the water. While submerged in water, buoyancy assists in supporting the weight of an individual. This decreases the amount of weight bearing which reduces the force of stress placed on the joints. This aspect of Aquatic Therapy is especially useful for those with arthritis, healing fractured bones, or who are overweight. By decreasing the amount of joint stress it is easier and less painful to perform exercises.

The viscosity of water provides an excellent source of resistance that can be easily incorporated into an Aquatic Therapy exercise program. This resistance allows for muscle strengthening without the need of weights. Using resistance coupled with the water’s buoyancy allows a person to strengthen muscle groups with decreased joint stress that can not be experienced on land.

Aquatic Personal Training

The Aquatic Personal training program is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are limited in their mobility and who may not be comfortable in group settings.  It is also great option for those who want to challenge themselves in a one-on-one setting.

An exercise program is designed for an aquatic environment to suit your specific needs and developed by a Certified Personal Trainer.

Joint Action

Joint Action is a 50 minute aquatic group exercise class that is taught by Nationally Certified Personal Trainers.  The objective of the class is to help ease pain and stiffness in the joints and muscles, increase active range of motion and to promote healing.

Each class consists of 4 primary components:

  • Warm-up

  • Low impact cardiovascular training

  • Resistance training

  • Flexibility and stretching exercises

This class size is smaller so as to ensure that everyone can exercise comfortably and at their own pace.

Your participation in the Joint Action Program requires a discussion with your family physician.
